Another Use For A Hot Tub

The area above the sliding door was always going to be a difficult area to finish nicely.  It goes in all different directions.  What was needed was a something bendy to take up the shape but solid.

MDF of course.  Bendy when wet, solid when dry.
So how to wet it?  Well 2 hours in the hot tub at 40C did the trick.

Once its fully dried out and set it will be covered with the wall lining.

Other bits done today.  The front of the ambulance had a very wasteful 45 degree panel each side  which had to go.

 It can bee seen here

This also went most of the way to the ceiling and so was in the way of the top cupboards, and also it was going all over the place with angles and would have been difficult to cover with wall covering.
Much neater and easier to cover now

I am finally beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

It's Been A Day Of Shiny Deliveries.

While I was away last week I caught up on some ordering.

So today the deliverys were shiny.

The Euroliner stainless steel wheel trims arrived as did the 6 mushroom vents I have ordered for the boat project.

Excitedly I got on with fitting the wheel trims.  The vents will be in a week or 2.

Before

After

IMO the price of these are eyewateringly OTT but they do look good.  I also fitted some valve extenders to the inner wheels.

I also fitted a new Radio ariel today. Of course the cable was too short so I needed to patch a 1m bit in.  I also ran the cable for the rear speakers whle the head lining was out.

I cleaned the head lining before the winter, but somehow the roof leaked, I suspect it was snow being driven in the vent on the roof.  This will be done away with shortly.  So I need to clean the headlining again.

Finally today I refitted the Morco water heater.  When I fitted it I used the surrounding square edges to line it up.  While this was geometrically right, it didn't look right and it was annoying me. So a small amount of "by eye" adjustment was done.  I have also put some extra screws in it to try and stop it rattling when on the move.

Cupboards Doors And Draws

Now I'm back from our week away. Today I started to fit out the interior.

This is a heavily modified B&Q 600mm draw unit.  Most of this is under the bed.  I have put in the bearers for the bed but not the slats yet as I need to get access.

Next was the shower room door.

Then time for the over-cab doors and side cupboards.

On Sunday I fitted the new radio I got for it.  I'm very impressed.  It links to my iPhone a treat for calls and iPod playing, has loads of other features too.  All for about £50.  It even has a load of wires for a sub to connect to so I suppose I will have to get one now.

Paint Job Done.

I picked up the MH today from the paint shop.  Here's the finished thing.  These are not my photos they are Jerry's.  I didn't have time today to pose it as I did before it went away so consider these just a sneak preview.  I am away on my narrowboat for the week so it won't be till next weekend, but I just had to share.  You will agree Jerry has done a great job.

I am so pleased with the finished job.  Who would guess this was once an ambulance?

Still a few external enhancements to come.  Wheel trims and some decals and sign writing are next on the list, and my wife wants some bee graphics as well
Anyone care to guess what we are going to call it?
